What is ArmorAcoustics?

Step into character without stepping out of reality. ArmorAcoustics is a compact stereo hearing amplifier designed specifically for cosplayers who wear enclosed helmets. Whether you’re patrolling a con floor, engaging in immersive roleplay, or just trying to hold a conversation in costume—ArmorAcoustics lets you hear the world around you without breaking immersion.

Built by cosplayers, for cosplayers, this powerful little amplifier dramatically improves situational awareness and voice clarity while in costume. It uses two microphones (left and right) to give you a true stereo experience, helping you detect directionality and movement—just like real armor tech should.

Features

  • Clear, amplified stereo audio to hear your surroundings through your helmet

  • Use your favorite 3.5mm headphones – Ear-loop headphones work best for secure helmet fit

  • Left, Center, or Right Configuration – Choose your wiring layout for optimal fit:

    • Left: Shortened left mic cable for installs on the left side

    • Right: Shortened right mic cable for installs on the right side

    • Center: Equal-length cables for rear-vent or flexible installs

  • Large tactile volume knob – Easy to find and adjust while wearing gloves

  • USB-powered – Plug into any USB battery bank (USB-C or USB-A available)

  • Durable black PETG enclosure – Lightweight, small, rugged, and cosplay-ready

  • Mounting kit included – Velcro, 2 custom mic mounts, 6 zip ties, and 6 adhesive zip tie anchors

  • Average runtime – About 48hrs off a 1000mAh USB battery pack / 8-10 days off 5,000mAh USB battery pack
  • Compact dimensions: 54mm x 36mm x 20mm (74mm including volume knob)

Powering ArmorAcoustics

  • Build Option 1: USB-C (5V) from a power bank
  • Build Option 2: USB-A (5V) from a power bank

Operation

After installation into your helmet, and after being connected to a charged USB battery pack simply turn the knob clockwise to turn it on. You should hear an audible “click”, at this time you should hear audio coming out of your headphones. Adjust the knob to your preference.

WARNING: The volume can get quite loud if it is turned up 100%. Please take care of your hearing and adjust the volume from the Off position at every use to ensure the volume is not too loud.

Installation

Quick and easy to install inside most helmets. Use the included zip ties and mounts to secure the microphones near the bottom aligned with the ears or near vent openings. Pick the configuration that best matches your helmet layout. For complete custom builds and the best hearing possible drill holes and mount/hide your microphones – guides coming soon.

Whether you’re trooping with a clan or commanding a battalion, ArmorAcoustics helps you stay aware, safe, and in full control—without ever breaking character.
