What is Armor Acoustics?
Armor Acoustics is a compact audio system designed specifically for cosplay helmets — especially Mandalorian-style builds. It lets you amplify your surroundings using a mic and headphone setup, improving clarity while wearing a helmet.
What comes with Armor Acoustics?
- 1x compact amplifier board with a USB-A plug for power and a 3.5mm headphone connector
- 2x electret microphones (all pre-wired and connected)
- 6x Zip-Tie anchors
- 6x Zip-Ties
- 1x Adhesive backed Velcro strip
What kind of power source does it use?
Armor Acoustics is powered by any USB-A USB battery packs or wired 5V USB sources, depending on your preference. Any standard USB-A battery pack should work OK.
What does Armor Acoustics do?
Armor Acoustics amplifies all of your surrounding ambient sounds and voices and delivers them over a pair of headphones with a standard 3.5mm jack. Allowing you to hear better while in costume.
Is Armor Acoustics hard to install?
Not at all. If you’re comfortable with basic mounting procedures with adhesives/hot-glue/E6000, hook and loop (Velcro) and zip-ties, installation should be straightforward. You can get away with attaching the mics inside the helmet and the base of the helmet near your ears. Tutorials and diagrams are available on our Tutorials and Guides page (coming soon!).
Why headphones?
Why did I go with headphones over speakers? I made Armor Acoustics with the hope that a lot of people could easily use it and adapt it into their existing cosplay gear. Headphones greatly mitigate the issue of feedback from the microphones, so a simpler easier install available to a wider range of people. We are working on a speaker version of Armor Acoustics.
Will there be an option with speakers?
Hopefully! We are working on a separate product that will be designed to use speakers in the helmet vs headphones.
How long does shipping take?
Since everything we make is handmade to order, please allow 3–5 business days for production before shipping. We’ll keep you updated on the status via email.
Can I return an item I bought?
Due to the handmade and electronic nature of the product, returns are only accepted for items that arrive damaged or non-functional or if something happens within 30 days after you receive the item.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, there is a 30 day warranty for all the products we sell. If something happens to something we made by no fault of your own we will help fix the situation. Please reach out to us if this happens.
What kind of images does Armor Screen support?
Armor Screen supports animated GIFs and static GIFs – but only GIFS!
At this time Armor Screen does NOT support JPEG, PNG, BMP etc. GIFS only!
The GIFs need to be sized for the display you purchased or it will not display properly.
You can use the EZGIF website to help optimize, resize and edit your GIFs.
Is there a manual for Armor Screen?
Yes there is!
Is there a manual for Armor Acoustics?
Not yet, but soon.
After I changed the rotation the page does not refresh
This is normal activity, the device saved the settings and restarted and needs to reboot. Refresh the webpage ad you should be OK.
I can hear everything! But, I can hear EVERYTHING. How can I dampen fan noise?
If you can hear the fans in your helmet too much you can try open-celled foam. This is standard foam, egg crate type foam. You typically see it on microphones on stage or for music.
You can try to surround the microphone AND the fans with foam. This should help dampen the fan noise.
What is all this black stuff?
The black stuff you see on the device is liquid electrical tape. We put it there to help protect the circuits and solder points from moisture damage.
We know it can get hot it that flight suit with gauntlets on. So we tried to think ahead.
